All because you want to be &#8216;faithful&#8217; to MnO<sub>2<\/sub>. (By the way, this particular day you won&#8217;t find one.)<\/p>\n<p>Functionally, these button cells are essentially interchangeable, but they have different active materials inside them. The <strong>LR44<\/strong> is an <strong>&#8220;alkaline&#8221; battery<\/strong> which has the overall reaction:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">3 MnO<sub>2<\/sub> + 2 Zn = Mn<sub>3<\/sub>O<sub>4<\/sub> + 2 ZnO<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>303\/357<\/strong> is a <strong>silver oxide battery<\/strong> having the overall reaction:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Zn + Ag<sub>2<\/sub>O = 2 Ag + ZnO<\/p>\n<p>They both give you a potential of about 1.5 V. Actually, the silver oxide battery voltage is a little higher, and its capacity is a bit bigger.
